However, there are times when the aromatherapy herbs are just put into waste when aromatherapy vaporization is not done properly. This article lists down the common mistakes users commit with aromatherapy vaporizers.

• Not grinding, or improperly grinding, the herbs. Vaporizing without grinding the herbs does not produce the much desired result. The vaporizer will not be able to extract the active ingredients from the leaves unless they are ground correctly. Grinding the herbs also ensures that each herb leaf is maximized and used efficiently. However, too much grinding is also not good as the vapor produced may have bits of fine dust in it, which does not really translate to a good vaporization experience.

• Leaving the herbs in the vaporizer longer than it should be. Once the vaporizer has reached the correct temperature, the plant herbs start to release the vapor. Once the entire vapor has been extracted, the device should be turned off and the herbs removed. If not, it will continue to vaporize, and if the vapor is being captured in a bag or balloon, it might explode if the device is kept running. Anyways, once the entire vapor is released, the rest will just be air without the aroma of the herbs anymore.

• Putting too much herb in the vaporizer bowl. Some think that putting as many herbs the bowl can possibly hold will produce a richer vapor. Unfortunately, it is not the case. It is the opposite, in fact. The more loose the ground herbs are the better the quality of the vapor is. The air will have more room to flow through the herbs and extract the active ingredients off the herbs.

• Setting the vaporizer temperature too high. Just like the point above, setting the temperature setting to the fullest to vaporize the herbs will not do the trick. This can only be done when pre-heating the device. But once you put the herbs in, the temperature should be set to the correct temperature for the herbs being used. Beyond each plant's optimal temperature for vaporization will burn the leaves and will produce a bad taste on the vapor produced.

• Reusing the same herb multiple times. It is perfectly okay to use the plant material again for the second, or maybe third, vaporization session as long as the desired vapor is still being produced. But after the second or third session, the herb must be disposed of as it will be useless by then and will not anymore produce the vapor that you desire.
